Koh Rong Island Sihanoukville is a Cambodian Island in the Gulf of Thailand, at about 40km off the coast of Sihanoukville. Actually, the island is deserted, undeveloped and untouched. It's a secret island. But it will be soon one of the famous touristic destination of Cambodia. The island is certainly the most beautiful island of the Kompong Som Region. Koh Rong Island is a great place to relax or to explore because the island is still almost deserted, undeveloped and natural treat. Koh Rong (Rong Island) is one of the most gorgeous and loveliest islands in the Cambodia Bay which is located 25 kilometers off the coast of Sihanoukville province. Rong Island, with its white sandy beaches and turquoise water, is a dreamy tropical paradise rarely seen on earth that has been called the 'Star of the Islands' due to its natural diversities. On its southwestern side, the beach stretches for nearly five kilometers of virgin white sand, fringed with palm trees and dazzling turquoise water. The island's southernmost cove hosts a beach locally called 'Long Set Beach' after a farmer who lives there growing coconut, mangoes and cashews. Snorkelers can see schools of colorful rabbit fish, sergeant fish, and parrot fish. There are seven bays on the island which are enough to keep even the most active visitors busy with diving, snorkeling, mountain biking, trekking, kayaking and motorbike trekking, as well as plenty of sand, sun, and sea for those with more relaxed tastes. The increased number of tourists has led to an accelerating increase in the number of bungalows built, where tourists can truly enjoy living with nature.
Koh Rong Sanloem
Koh Rong Sanloem (Rong Sanloem Island) is the most well-known island of Sihanoukville, which has lots of insects, is an exciting destination for nature loves and wildlife spotters, and an excellent choice for a relaxed weeked, too. Among the best beaches in Sihanoukville, there are three lovely yellow sandy beaches shaded by pine trees that make for excellent snorkeling on the island and its coral reefs.
If you are feeling adventurous and would like to do a bit of wildlife-spotting, the best choice is the Rong Sanloem Island. It takes less than an hour to get to one of the three yellow sandy beaches surrounded by pine trees; from there, we can trek into the jungle where you can view more than 100 species of birds as well their fill, and can see giant mussels that are not found at the other island.
